Come and recharge your batteries in an eco-restored setting featuring historic buildings and an herb garden, on the grounds of the former Château de Champlay in the Yonne
Less than two hours from Paris, between Sens and Auxerre, and 10 minutes from Joigny, Le Colombier Vert is a haven of peace on the edge of a small Burgundian village. Once the farmstead of a castle that no longer stands, this place steeped in history belongs to Régis and Véronique.
As lovers of heritage and gardens, they are committed to restoring the buildings with respect for their history, ecology and the environment.
The buildings have been painstakingly restored using natural and eco-friendly materials: wood wool or cork insulation, earth plasters, ochre paints and locally sourced timber.
The property comprises a dovecote, barns, a house, a gîte and a garden spanning 4 hectares. This beautiful architectural heritage dates back to the time of Louis XIV. Originally, the Sun King bestowed this château upon Louis Jules Bollé, the king's adviser and Marshal-General of the Household, who became the 'Marquis de Champlay', in recognition of his loyal service. This accomplished cartographer was surprised to discover the royal gift upon returning from a military campaign.
Today, Le Colombier Vert offers:
- a holiday cottage to recharge your batteries or work remotely: a cosy retreat, ideal for enjoying a countryside break as a couple or for focusing on work in progress. SPECIAL WEEKEND OFFER: if you book a weekend, you can enjoy the cottage until the end of the day on the last day (we will arrange your departure time together)
- a venue for working in an inspiring setting: our rooms are available to hire for workshops, seminars or training courses (4 spaces including a sports hall, a large communal kitchen, a training room and a relaxation room)
- a 4-hectare garden for strolling and discovering plants: a garden comprising several distinct areas, serving as a production site for medicinal plants, an aromatic vegetable garden and a training venue; it is open to the public several times a year. Véronique runs a shop selling herbal teas and herbal salts, made from plants grown naturally in the garden.
Le Colombier Vert also welcomes groups for special events: seminars, team-building activities, plant-related training courses, garden tours, cultural events, sports and yoga retreats, and nature-based coaching sessions for entrepreneurs…
